Dr. Erika Bonadio began teaching at Salem College in the Exercise Science department in the fall of 2018. She teaches Exercise and Sport Psychology, Women in Sport, Philosophy and Fundamentals of Coaching, Prevention and Care of Athletic Injuries, Organization and Administration of Exercise Science, and Measurement, Assessment, and Evaluation of Exercise and Sport.

Erika grew up in Pittsburgh, PA and is an avid Steelers fan. She attended Washington & Jefferson College, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in math and was a member of the Presidents Athletic Conference championship and second-place swim team her junior and senior years, respectively.

Erika went on to earn an MA in anthropology and then moved to North Carolina, where she taught sociology and anthropology part-time, as well as swimming and group fitness classes.

While teaching in the health and physical education department at a community college, Erika earned a master’s degree in exercise science with a concentration in sport and exercise psychology and entered the EdD in Kinesiology online at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Erika advocates for inclusive exercise and education opportunities for people from underrepresented groups.

In her free time, Erika enjoys running, hiking, and water sports. Indoors, she’s an avid reader and basket weaver.
