Atlantic High's Lewis set to play softball at Salem

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College softball program is pleased to announce that Briana Lewis has committed to attend Salem next fall. Lewis was a four-year starter for Coach Meegan Wilmot and Coach Jeremy Ossler at Atlantic High School in Port Orange, FL. The Spirits softball team will begin a full schedule including Great South Athletic Conference play during the 2011-2012 school year.

Lewis was an all-conference second team selection as a sophomore and junior, and honorable mention all-conference as a freshman at Atlantic. She was also all-area honorable mention twice. Lewis won Atlantic's Golden Glove Award as a junior, and she helped the team become district runners-up that year. She also played club softball for the 2010 Lady Renegades Black, which was coached by Norm Perry.

She has been very involved in academic and extracurricular activities while at Atlantic. She has been on the honor roll and been named as a scholar-athlete. Lewis has been on the Academy of Law and Government, and on the Teen Court at Atlantic. She is the daughter of Melinda Sanford and Kevin Lewis.

Salem College is a NCAA Division III institution located in Winston-Salem, NC. Salem is the oldest educational institution for women in the United States, and was founded in 1772. The institution boasts a proud history of fostering independence in women. Salem has been ranked in the top 100 in Forbes magazines annual ranking of America's 600 best colleges, and in their "America's Best College Buys" Top 100.
