Softball wins first scrimmage against High Point University club team

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College softball team won their first scrimmage in a dominant fashion against the High Point University Club Team, 11-3. Lindsey Boening (Clemmons, NC) pitched all seven innings for the Spirits in a winning effort. Salem is playing a limited schedule this spring, before they enter a full Great South Athletic Conference schedule in 2012.

Boening threw 5 strikeouts and only allowed 3 earned runs and 1 walk in the win. Samantha Smith (Westfield, NC) was hot from the plate going 3 for 4 with 3 runs. Amanda Orsino (Sauquoit, NY) and Kaitlyn Horner (Elkhart, IN) each went 2 for 4 for the Spirits, and Gabrielle Vizcaino (Wake Forest, NC) went 2 for 3.

Salem is also playing a scrimmage with Winston-Salem State University.
