Wayne Christian's Hinton commits to play softball at Salem

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College softball program is excited to announce that Reagan Hinton committed to attend Salem next fall. Hinton played for Coach Roger Longwell and Coach Jerry Forbes at Wayne Christian High School in Goldsboro, NC. The Spirits softball team will begin a full schedule including Great South Athletic Conference play during the 2011-2012 school year.

Hinton is in her fourth year playing on the varsity team at Wayne Christian. She was named to the all-conference team in 9th and 11th grade, and to the North Carolina All-State team in 9th and 10th grade. The Wayne Christian team won the North Carolina State Championship game in 2007 and 2008.

Hinton played club softball for Coach Curt Hinton and Coach Wayne Stallings for both the Hurricanes and the Stingerz Elite. The Hurricanes were state champions in 2008, and Super World Series runners-up in 2009.

She is also highly involved in academics at Wayne Christian. Hinton has been in the National Honor Society from 10th-12th grade, and she is currently the Student Government Association Vice President. She is the daughter of Robin and Curt Hinton.

Salem College is a NCAA Division III institution located in Winston-Salem, NC. Salem is the oldest educational institution for women in the United States, and was founded in 1772.
