Arendell Parrott Academy's Ballard commits to play softball at Salem

The Salem College softball program is excited to announce that Rebekah Ballard has committed and deposited to attend Salem next fall. Ballard played softball for Coach Matt Beaman at Arendell Parrott High School in Kinston, NC.

The Salem softball team finished as the sixth seed in the Great South Athletic Conference (GSAC), in their first season of play in the NCAA. The Spirits were 7-9 in the GSAC and 13-22 overall, and picked up 2 wins in the Great South Tournament.

Ballard, an infielder, was part of Arendell Parrott's 2011 NCISAA-2A State Championship team. She was selected to the all-conference and honorable mention all-area teams in 2011, and the Patriots were also their conference champions. Ballard also played club softball for the Hurricane Elite, Hurricane Select and Gold, and the EC Shockers. She played volleyball for 6 years and was a cheerleader in 2011.

She has been a member of the honor roll at Arendell Parrott. Ballard spent time working as an Amy Gardner Camp Softball Camp Instructor from 2008-2010. She won the 2008 Vaughan D. Fowler Award, and she is the daughter of Geraldine and Thomas Ballard, Jr.
