McDowell High's Davidson commits to play softball at Salem

Marion, NC-The Salem College softball program is excited to announce that Sydney Davidson has committed and deposited to attend Salem next fall. Davidson played softball for Coach Bill Taylor at McDowell High School in Marion, NC.

The Salem softball team is currently in seventh in the Great South Athletic Conference (GSAC), in their first season of play in the NCAA. The Spirits are 4-6 in the GSAC and 8-17 overall.

Davidson, a catcher, has played the last 2 seasons on the varsity squad for McDowell. She was the junior varsity captain for the Titans in 2010. She also plays club softball for the Linedrive Softball Club, where she has played since 2008.

She has been a member of the National Honor Society at McDowell for the past 2 years. Davidson is also a member of the Student Council, Relay for Life, and an animal hospital volunteer. She is the daughter of Shelley and Todd Davidson.

Salem College is a NCAA Division III institution located in Winston-Salem, NC. Salem is the oldest educational institution for women in the United States, and was founded in 1772. The institution boasts a proud history of fostering independence in women.
