students this week during a dinner sponsored by the Special Olympics of Forsyth County. Members of the softball team dressed in their uniforms and spent some quality time with the students. The NCAA Division III Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) is currently doing their volunteer work with Special Olympics for the 2011-2012 school year.

The students--five young women from Carver High School and one young woman from Flat Rock Middle School--joined the softball team for a barbecue dinner and some fun and games at the Last Resort in Winston-Salem.

Amber Miller (Mebane, NC), a junior outfielder, said "the event was a lot fun, and we danced, played pool and made new friends."
