Softball loses first two Great South games at Huntingdon

Montgomery, AL-The Salem College softball team played their first Great South games ever today in Alabama. The team came up

short 9-1 in both games. Kayla Kennedy (Goldsboro, NC) led the Spirits with 2 hits on the day. Salem drops to 0-2 in the GSAC and 4-12 overall, while Huntingdon improves to 2-1 and 10-7 overall.

Both games ended in the fifth inning due to the 8-run rule. The Hawks scored half of their runs on the day in the 2 fifth innings. Abby Settles (Reidsville, NC) pitched the first game and gave up 7 hits. Shelby Drummonds (Boone, NC) threw the second game and gave up 8 hits.

Kristi Morton (Trussville, AL) crossed the plate for the Spirits in the first game. Kennedy scored the Spirits only run in the second game.

Salem returns to Great South action tomorrow at LaGrange at 1:00 and 3:00.
