Softball picks up first ever Great South win in split with LaGrange

LaGrange, GA-The Salem College softball team picked up their first Great South win ever with a 5-4 win against LaGrange. The Spirits lost in their first game of the day to the Panthers 10-6. Salem improves to 5-13 overall and 1-3 in the Great South after today.

Ellie Vizcaino (Wake Forest, NC) had a monster day at the plate for the Spirits. She went 6 for 8 on the day, and also added 4 runs batted in and 2 doubles.

Shelby Drummonds (Boone, NC) was the winning pitcher for the Spirits in the second game. She gave up 8 hits in 2 earned runs in 7 innings. Drummonds also scored 2 runs in the second game. Abby Settles (Reidsville, NC) threw the loss in the first game. She gave up 5 hits and 7 earned runs in 2.2 innings.

The Spirits return home for their first home Great South series against Maryville College on March 24th at 1:00 and 3:00.
