Softball picks up important split with Maryville at home

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College softball team picked up an

ambermillercatch
important Great South split with Maryville College today at home. In the doubleheader, Salem won the first game 5-3 and fell 7-2 in the second game. Amber Bass (Clinton, NC) finished with 3 hits in the 2 games for the Spirits. Salem improves to 6-14 overall and 2-4 in the Great South.

Abby Settles (Reidsville, NC) picked up the win on the mound in the first game. She pitched all 7 innings and only allowed 3 runs and 3 hits. 

In the first game, Bass went 2 for 4 with 1 run batted in. Kristi Morton (Trussville, AL) batted in 2 runs on 1 hit.

Shelby Drummonds (Boone, NC) gave up 8 hits in the loss of the second game. Morton blasted a home-run in the second inning. 

The Spirits return to action on Sunday, when they travel to Fayetteville to take on Methodist University in a non-conference doubleheader.
