Softball sets scoring record in series split in Georgia this weekend

Decatur, GA-The Salem College softball team heavily defeated Spelman College twice on Saturday, before dropping a doubleheader to Agnes Scott today in Great South action in Georgia. The Spirits set a single-game scoring record with a 23-0 victory against Spelman, and they also defeated the Jaguars 18-2. Salem dropped two games today to Agnes Scott 4-2 and 10-0. The Spirits overall record improves to 8-17 and they are now 4-6 in the Great South.

In the 23-0 win, Shelby Drummonds (Boone, NC) crushed a home run for Salem. Abby Settles (Reidsville, NC) picked up the win on the mound.

The Spirits continued to pound out runs against the Jaguars in their second game. Amber Bass (Clinton, NC) and Kristi Morton (Trussville, AL) each had 3 runs batted in. Drummonds picked up the win.

In the first game against Agnes Scott today, Salem out hit the Scotties 9-3. Agnes Scott was able to score 4 unanswered runs though to take the win. Drummonds had 3 hits, and Settles had the loss. The Spirits were never able to get their bats going in the second game, where Drummonds lost the game. 

The Spirits close out their season at home starting with the Piedmont Lions on April 6th.
