Softball splits doubleheader with Emory and Henry at home

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College softball team split a doubleheader with the Wasps of Emory and Henry. The Spirits used a 7 run inning to propel the team to a 7-4 victory, before they dropped the second game 13-0. Abby Settles (Reidsville, NC) recorded 11 strikeouts in the win. Salem's record now stands at 3-7 overall this season.

The Spirits recorded 12 hits in the first game. Kayla Kennedy (Goldsboro, NC) went 3 for 4 and had 3 runs batted in. Ellie Vizcaino (Wake Forest, NC) also had 2 runs batted in, and she went 2 for 3 in the game. Salem came back from a 2-0 deficit to score 7 runs in the bottom of the sixth. Settles pitched all 7 innings for the win.

In the second game, Salem could not get a run on the board against Jennifer True of Emory and Henry. Shelby Drummonds (Boone, NC) went 2 for 3 for Salem, and the Spirits finished with 5 hits. Drummonds was the losing pitcher in the game.

Salem returns to action on the road this weekend for a non-conference game at North Carolina Wesleyan on March 10th.
