Morgan Coleman wins GSAC Softball Pitcher of the Week

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Great South Athletics Conference announced the spring sports Players of the Week for contests played March 17 –23 and, following voting by the league sports information directors, Salem's Morgan Coleman won Softball Pitcher of the Week and Colleen DeGraff of Wesleyan captured Softball Player of the Week.

   

GSAC Softball Pitcher of the Week – Morgan Coleman of Salem

Morgan Coleman pitched two outstanding games as she pitched Salem to two victories on the weekend. Coleman went 12 innings in two games allowing 3 runs and struck out 11 and walked 4. She also contributed at the plate as well going 8 for 13 at the plate batting .615. Coleman's slugging percentage was a .923.  She hit 1 Home run, 1 double, 6 singles, scoring 3 runs and delivering 5 RBI's.

 

GSAC Softball Player of the Week – Colleen DeGraff of Wesleyan

Wesleyan junior Colleen DeGraff helped lead the Wolves to two wins and had an exceptional week at the plate.  Over the course of six games, she went 10-of-20 from the plate with 10 RBI, 2 home runs, a triple, a double and 6 runs scored.  A true utility player for the Wolves, she played left field, center field, second base and shortstop over the six games with no errors.

 

The GSAC sports information directors nominate Player of the Week candidates and then vote on the top two nominees in each sport as selected by the conference office. Player of the Week voting occurs on Tuesdays and the weekly announcement of the winners is released each Wednesday morning.
