Patton High's Nelson commits to play softball at Salem

Morganton, NC-The Salem College softball team is pleased to announce that Jennifer Nelson has committed to play softball at Salem next fall. Nelson played softball for Coach Lauren Chapman and Coach Bradley Chapman at R.L. Patton High School. 

Nelson was an all-conference pitcher in 2012 and 2013 and is a four-year varsity member. She was nominated for the all-state player of the year in 2013. She was selected as Patton's Defensive Most Valuable Softball Player in 2012 and 2013. 

Nelson has played club softball for the Charlotte Magic and for the Phantoms Gold. She has been playing softball since she was four.

She has been very involved as a student at Patton.  Nelson is a humanities and honors student. She is a member of the National Honor Society. She is also a Red Cross Volunteer and a member of the Anchor Club at Patton.

Salem College is a NCAA Division III institution located in Winston-Salem, NC. Salem is the oldest educational institution for women in the United States, and was founded in 1772. The institution boasts a proud history of fostering independence for women.
