Brianna Morris wins both Pitcher and Player of the Week

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Great South Athletic Conference announced the softball Player and Pitcher of the Week for all games played through February 15 and, following voting by the league sports information directors, Salem's Brianna Morris swept the awards.

Freshman Brianna Morris of Salem College went 4-for-10 at the plate batting .400 in four games. Morris had 10 at bats, including a double, 3 singles, 2 walks, scoring 2 runs and delivering 3 RBI's. Morris's slugging percentage was .500 for the weekend and she had an .538 on base percentage.

In the circle, Morris pitched outstanding in her first two starts in her college career. She pitched 6 solid innings against Averett University only allowing 3 runs. She followed with an 8-8 tie versus Peace College the following day striking out two giving up five runs.  

The GSAC sports information directors nominate Player of the Week candidates and then vote on the top two nominees in each sport as selected by the conference office. Player of the Week voting occurs on Tuesdays and the weekly announcement of the winners is released each Wednesday morning.
