Softball sweeps Peace at home

Winston-Salem, NC-It took 8 innings in game 1 and only 6 innings in game 2 for Salem to sweep William Peace tonight. The Spirits used two home-runs by Kierston Garner to win 3-2 and 12-4. Salem improves to 9-9-2 with the wins.

Lauryn Smith and Brianna Morris each picked up one win on the mound. Morris pitched 7 total innings and gave up 6 runs on 10 hits. Smith pitched 7 innings and gave up 5 hits and 0 runs.

Garner hit a home-run in each game. She finished with 3 hits and 4 runs batted in for the day. Morris had a team-high 6 hits for the day. Montana Lineberger finished with 3 runs batted in. Maggie Fritts had 4 total hits, while Jennifer Vitarelli, Bre Crumley and Lineberger all had 3.

The Spirits return to action tomorrow against Greensboro at home.
