Softball dominates Greensboro in sweep

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College softball team continued their winning ways with a 2-1 and 9-8 sweep of Greensboro College. Kayla Kennedy had a strong day with 4 hits, including a home-run. The Spirits improved to 11-9-2 with the wins.

Lauryn Smith and Brianna Morris each earned wins on the mound. Morris was dominant in game 1 as she only gave up 3 hits and 1 run. Smith won game 2 as she gave up 8 earned runs on 14 hits. 

In game 1, Salem fell behind in the first inning. Jennifer Vitarelli and Maggie Fritts scored Salem's runs in the third and fourth innings. Bre Crumley and Kayla Kennedy had the runs batted in. 

The second game saw Salem make a major comeback. Greensboro took a 6-1 advantage in the third. Salem fought back with 4 runs in the bottom of the third. They won the game in their last at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. Kennedy had a huge game as she went 3 for 4, including an important homer. Kierston Garner also hit a home-run.

The Spirits return to the road on Monday to take on Methodist.
