Lauryn Smith wins GSAC Pitcher of the Week

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Great South Athletic Conference announced the softball Player and Pitcher of the Week for all games played April 6 – 12 and, following voting by the league sports information directors, Wesleyan's Jema Bravo claimed the Player award while Lauryn Smith of Salem won Pitcher of the Week honors.

Bravo continued her hot hitting this week, going 4-for-9 at the plate (.444) with 2 RBIs and one run scored. She had a OBP of .500 and slugging percentage of .556 for the week. Her consistent play has her currently leading the league in batting average, slugging percentage, hits and RBIs.

 

GSAC Softball Pitcher of the Week – Lauryn Smith of Salem
Lauryn Smith pitched her way to a win this week over conference rival Agnes Scott, finishing 1-1 on the weekend. Smith on the weekend pitched 15 innings facing 66 batters. She only gave up 1 run in her win, 1 walk, only allowing 3 hits and finished the day with 2 strikeouts. In the win she had an ERA of 1.00. 

 

 

The GSAC sports information directors nominate Player of the Week candidates and then vote on the top two nominees in each sport as selected by the conference office. Player of the Week voting occurs on Tuesdays and the weekly announcement of the winners is released each Wednesday morning.
