Lauren Alcorn joins softball staff
Lauren Alcorn begins her first season as the Spirits Assistant Coach entering the 2016 season. She is a graduate from the University at Albany in New York where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a minor in Spanish.
"I feel completely blessed to have someone with the experience and leadership that Lauren Alcorn has built during her playing career at the University of Albany," said Head Coach Scott Long. "Lauren's NCAA Division I background will help us continue growing our Salem Softball program into a winning tradition that we are committed to."
During her career at Albany, she was a four year starter at third base for the Division 1 program. In 2011 and 2014, Alcorn helped lead her team to two conference championships and two NCAA Regional appearances. In 2013, she was named to the America East First Team, and in 2014, she was named to the America East Second Team. After graduating from Albany, Alcorn was an assistant coach at her alma mater, Lower Dauphin High school, where her team finished top 8 in the state. 
A native of Hummelstown, Pa, she attended Lower Dauphin High School, where she lettered all four years and won two District Championships. Alcorn was a pitcher for ten years before attending Albany and had an ERA in high school below 1 all four years. She was a four-time selection for the Keystone Division All-Star team, was selected for Patriot News Big 11 Team as a sophomore, junior, and senior, and was a two-time PA All-State Quad A First-team selection.
