Salem sweeps Weekly GSAC Honors

ATLANTA - The Great South Athletic Conference announced the winter and spring sports Athletes of the Week for contests played February 15 - 21 and, after voting by the league sports information directors, Quntashea Lewis of Salem won yet another award for Women's Basketball Player of the Week while Salem teammates Kierston Garner (player) and Bri Morris (pitcher) swept the softball awards.

GSAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week – Quntashea Lewis of Salem 



Quntashea Lewis led the way in all aspects of play as the Spirits went 2-0 on the road against conference opponents Wesleyan College and Agnes Scott. In the first road game against Wesleyan, Quntashea scored 31 points shooting 10-of-18 from the floor and 11-of-14 at the free throw line. She also pulled down a combined 28 rebounds; 11 on the offensive end.  She added 6 assists and 3 steals to her stat line for the evening.  She turned around the next day against Agnes Scott and netted 20 points and pulled down 11 boards. Lewis averaged 25.5 points and 19.5 rebounds for the week.  

GSAC Softball Player of the Week – Kierston Garner of Salem

Senior Kierston Garner of Salem College had a remarkable week. Garner went 6-for-13 at the plate in four games with a batting average of .462 and a slugging percentage of .923 for the week. Garner had 2 singles, 3 doubles, and a homerun. She scored 2 runs and delivered 3 RBI's. Garners' on-base percentage was .500 for the week.     

GSAC Softball Pitcher of the Week – Bri Morris of Salem

Bri Morris pitched her way to a win this week over Shenandoah. Morris pitched 9 solid innings, facing 30 batters and only giving up 1 run, 2 walks, and 9 hits. She finished the day with 3 strikeouts in the 4-1 win over Shenandoah.
