Lineberger has huge weekend in Cary

Cary, NC-Montana Lineberger had a huge weekend at the Grand Slam Triangle Classic in Cary this past weekend. Lineberger led the Spirits in all major offensive categories. Salem picked up a big 9-0 win against USA South member, Piedmont College in their last game. The Spirits fell to Hood and Salisbury on Saturday, and to Greensboro on Sunday. The Spirits are now 2-6 overall this season. 

Lineberger had a massive 7 hits in the games this weekend. She finished with 7 runs batted in, 6 runs, and 2 doubles. She also hit 3 home runs this weekend, including 2 home runs against nationally ranked Salisbury in back to back at bats. 

Brianna Morris pitched a gem against Piedmont to pick up the win. She pitched 5 innings of scoreless softball for the shutout win.

Kierston Garner had 4 hits this weekend, and Jennifer Vitarelli, Briana Crumley, and Maggie Fritts each had 3 hits. Fritts and Vitarelli each had 3 runs, and Fritts and Garner each had 3 runs batted in. Crumley and Fritts each homered once, and Fritts had the Spirits only triple for the weekend. 

The Spirits return to the road this weekend as they travel to Virginia Wesleyan for games against Frostburg St., Keene St., Keuka, and Randolph Macon.
