Softball smashes Methodist at home

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College softball team unloaded a barrage of runs on Methodist in their best offensive showing of the season. Montana Lineberger went an impressive 6 for 6 to lead the Spirits. Salem is now14-10 overall.

Salem scored 10 runs in the bottom of the first inning of game run and never looked back as they won the first game (12-2) and the second game (13-1). Brianna Morris picked up the win in the first game as she allowed 2 runs on 6 hits in 5 innings. Lauryn Smith won the second game as she allowed 1 run on 6 hits in 4 innings. Hannah Nolan pitched an inning in relief for Smith and didn't give up a run.

Kierston Garner led the Spirits with 5 runs batted in. Lineberger, Jennifer Vitarelli, Maggie Fritts, Logan Bowling, and Briana Crumley all had 3 runs batted in. Fritts led the team with 3 runs scored. Crumley was second on the team with 4 hits. Garner and Fritts each homered in the first game. Fritts had 2 doubles, while Britani Peterson, Crumley, Vitarelli, and Lineberger all had 1 double.

The Spirits play at home again tomorrow against Emory & Henry at 4:00 and 6:00.
