Smith and Lineberger earn GSAC Players of the Week

ATLANTA - The Great South Athletic Conference announced the spring sports Players of the Week for contests played March 21 - 27 and, after voting by the league sports information directors, Salem's Montana Lineberger collected Player of the Week honors while her teammate Lauryn Smith claimed the Pitcher of the Week award. 

GSAC Softball Player of the Week – Montana Lineberger of Salem

Sophomore Montana Lineberger of Salem College had a stellar 4 game series of hitting, batting 1.000 in three of the four games she played. In four games she went 8-for-10 at the plate batting and an incredible .800 batting average. In her 10 at bats,  she produced 6 singles, 2 doubles, one walk, scored 5 runs and delivered 5 RBI's. Lineberger's on-base percentage was .818 and her slugging percentage was 1.000 for the weekend. 

GSAC Softball Pitcher of the Week – Lauryn Smith of Salem

Lauryn Smith took the mound and had an outstanding week pitching for Salem as she picked up two victories with wins over Methodist and Emory & Henry. Smith pitched 8 innings in 2 games allowing only 1 earned run on 8 hits in Salem's 13-1 win over Methodist and a 10-2 victory over Emory & Henry. Smith struck out 6 batters and only gave up three walks. She finished the week with an ERA of 1.13.
