Softball splits against GSAC rivals

Decatur, GA-The Salem College softball team split with Agnes Scott on the road to stay on top of the Great South rankings. Salem won the first game 4-0 and lost 6-2 in the second game. Brianna Morris propelled the Spirits to the win in game 1 with her bat and her pitching. The Spirits are now 3-1 in the GSAC and 19-13 overall. 

Morris pitched a great game in the first game as she held the Scotties scoreless in 7 innings and only allowed 6 scattered hits. Lauryn Smith allowed 3 runs on 6 hits in 4 innings in the second game. Hannah Nolan pitched 2 innings and gave up 3 runs on 5 hits in the second game.

Morris was joined by Maggie Fritts, Montana Lineberger, and Britani Peterson with 2 hits for the day. Briana Crumley, Hannah Ogle, and Kierston Garner all hit solo home runs today. Jennifer Vitarelli led the team with 2 runs batted in. Lineberger hit the only double for the Spirits on the day.

Salem returns to action next weekend when they host the Scotties for an important double-header on Saturday.
