Softball celebrates Garner with sweep of Wesleyan

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College softball team defeated Wesleyan twice today to clinch their first Great South regular season title. The Spirits won 4-0 and then 6-2 to bring home the regular season trophy. Salem also celebrated their lone senior and star hitter, Kierston Garner, today. Garner went 4 for 7 for the day from the plate. Salem improves to 23-13 and finishes GSAC regular season play with a 7-1 regular season record.

Garner was 3 for 3 in the first game. She also had a runs scored and a run batted in today. Lauryn Smith pitched her second straight shutout in the first game as she allowed no runs and just 4 hits in 7 innings. Brianna Morris picked up the win in game 2 as she allowed just 2 runs on 7 hits in 7 innings. 

Logan Bowling had a huge day today. She went 4 for 6 and had 2 runs batted in and 2 runs scored. She also hit a triple and a home run in the first game. Jennifer Vitarelli and Briana Crumley each had 1 double today. 

The Spirits will conclude regular season play next week at home against Averett.
