Softball comes back to defeat Ferrum

Ferrum, VA-The Salem College softball team mounted another late comeback as they defeated Ferrum College 11-8 on the road. Sydney Vaughn went 3 for 4 to lead the Spirits to the win. Salem is now 8-5 overall.

Lauryn Smith picked up the win on the mound. She allowed 1 run on 6 hits to improve to 3-2 this season. Salem took an early 4-0 lead in the 1st inning, before Ferrum scored 7 consecutive runs to take a 7-4 lead. Salem got 1 back in the 4th and 2 in the 7th to tie the game, before they pounded 4 runs in the 8th.

Briana Crumley also had 3 hits for the Spirits, and she added a double and 3 runs batted in. Logan Bowling hit a home-run and also had 3 runs batted in. 

The Spirits play their first ever USA South games this weekend at Huntingdon and LaGrange.
