Softball comes back twice to split weekend

LaGrange, GA-After falling twice to Huntingdon, the Spirits battled back to even their USA South record with a sweep of two games at LaGrange. Logan Bowling hit a two-run homer to give Salem the win in the second game with LaGrange. Salem is now 10-7 overall and 2-2 in the USA South.

In two pitching duels, Huntingdon escaped with a 3-1 and 2-1 win on Saturday. On Sunday, LaGrange had late leads in both games but the Spirits battled back with 7th inning runs to escape with two important wins. Salem came back in game won in the 7th inning to tie the game at 4, before they took the lead in extra innings for the 5-4 win. In the 2nd game, Salem once again trailed going into the final inning when Bowling cranked the go ahead 2-run homer. 

Lauryn Smith and Brianna Morris each went 1-1 on the mound this weekend. In game 1 against LaGrange, Briana Crumley led the team with 3 hits. Breanna Herman led the team with 2 runs batted in. In game 2, Montana Lineberger had 3 hits and Bowling led the team with 2 runs batted in. 

Salem returns to the road Friday to take on Emory & Henry in non-conference action.
