Winston-Salem, NC: Salem College Head Softball Coach Scott Long reached his milestone 100th win in a 9-1 victory over Wesleyan College this past weekend. Long took over the softball program at Salem in 2011. He currently holds a 100-92-2 overall coaching record.

Long came to Salem after leading the softball program at Calvary Baptist High School. The Salem softball program began in 2009. The softball program took a year-off in 2010-11, and Long was hired to bring in a new era of the program.

During his time as head coach, Long has led the team to a Great South Tournament championship in 2015 and to the program's first trip to the NCAA DIII National Tournament where they went 1-2 before being eliminated by Randolph-Macon. In 2016, Long led the program to a Great South Regular Season title.

The team now is in the USA South Athletic Conference. They are 12-9 overall in 2017, and 4-2 in the USA South. The Spirits are currently tied for 2nd in the USA South West Division.
