LaGrange, GA-The Salem College softball team fell 5-1 to Ferrum in their first game of the USA South Tournament in Georgia. The tournament is double elimination and the Spirits will play Maryville tomorrow. Maryville fell 6-5 to Averett.
Breanna Herman led the Spirits with 2 hits. Jennifer Vitarelli scored the Spirits run. Lauryn Smith pitched 5.2 innings and gave up 5 runs, while Brianna Morris pitched 1.1 innings.
The Spirits will play Maryville at 10:00. The winner will play the winner of the Huntingdon versus Meredith game at 2:00.
