LaGrange, GA-The Salem College softball team finished their strong season in the USA South Tournament with a 5-4 loss to Maryville. The Spirits needed the win to stay alive in the double elimination tournament, but Maryville used 3 late runs to get the win. Salem finishes the season with a 27-16 overall record.
The Scots took a 2-0 lead in the 2nd inning, before Salem scored 4 runs the next 2 innings to take a 4-2 lead. Maryville scored twice in the 4th and scored the game-winning run in the 5th. Sydney Vaughn gave up 5 runs on 3 hits and finished the season with a 10-3 record.
Montana Lineberger and Amanda Dacunto each had 2 hits to lead the Spirits. Lineberger drove in 2 runs for Salem. Brittany Morton hit a double for Salem.
