Salem Softball honors Bre Crumley and Coach Scott Long

Winston-Salem, NC-In between the second and third set of the Salem vs. Guilford volleyball match, former softball player, Bre Crumley, and Head Softball Coach Scott Long were honored. Crumley was honored for becoming the first Salem student-athlete to win a NCAA DIII statistical honor for least strikeouts. Long was honored for winning his 100th victory during the 2017 season.

Crumley (Class of 2018) became the first ever NCAA DIII Statistical champion in Salem history as she was the toughest to strikeout in the nation during the 2017 season. Crumley struck out 0 times in 123 at bats. She played first base for the Spirits and was a 3-time all-conference and one-time All-Region performer during her career with a .397 batting average.

Head Coach Scott Long earned his 100th career victory in a 22-0 win against Agnes Scott last March. Coach Long has guided the softball program to two regular season titles, one conference championship, and a trip to the NCAA DIII Tournament. He currently holds a 114-99-2 record through six seasons with the Spirits.
