Softball Sweeps Southern Virginia At Home

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College softball team swept Southern Virginia at home for their first two wins of the season. They won 11-2 in game 1 and 9-0 in game 2. Both games ended after 5 innings due to the run-rule. Jennifer Vitarelli went 5-6 for the day to lead the Spirits. Salem is now 2-2, while SVU falls to 0-2.

Brianna Morris picked up the win in game 1. She allowed 5 hits and 2 runs in 5 innings. Pitching in her first career appearance, NaLee Jacobs won game 2 with a 4 hit shutout.

Montana Lineberger and Miranda Barker added 4 hits, while Stephanie Galioto had 3 hits and led the team with 5 runs batted in. Vitarelli and Lineberger each scored 4 runs. Vitarelli also had a double and a triple for the day.

The Spirits will play Shenandoah and Frostburg St. tomorrow at home.
