Softball Beats Brandeis Twice

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College softball team picked up two wins in a home sweep of Brandeis tonight. The Spirits won the first game 2-1 in extra innings, before crushing Brandeis 8-0 in game 2. Salem is now 5-3 overall, while Brandeis falls to 3-3.

Salem and Brandeis held each other scoreless through 7 innings in the first game. The Judges scored in the top of the 8th inning, before Salem scored twice in the bottom of the 8th including a walk-off hit by Brianna Morris. Morris pitched a 7 inning shutout in the game, before Kayla Ogle pitched an inning and picked up the win. 

In game 2, Miranda Barker only allowed 2 hits in 6 innings for a shutout win. The game was tight through the first 3 innings, before Salem scored 2 in the 4th and 6 runs in the 6th to win by the run rule.

Barker led the Spirits with 4 hits for the day, while Morris added 3 hits. Barker had a team-high 3 runs batted in and 2 runs scored. The Spirits will hit the road to play 4 games in Raleigh this weekend.
