Softball Splits Home Games with Meredith

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College softball team split two USA South conference games with Meredith. Salem lost the first game 9-3. Salem won the second game 7-2. The Spirits are now 11-9 and 4-2 in the USA South, and Meredith is now 11-9 and 3-3.

In the first game, Salem jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the third inning. Meredith scored 3 in the top of the 4th, and Salem cut it to 3-2 in the 5th. Meredith scored 3 runs in the 6th and the 7th to get the win. Kayla Ogle pitched 5.2 innings and gave up 5 runs on 10 hits. Brianna Morris pitched 1.1 innings and gave up 4 runs on 5 hits. Miranda Barker had 2 hits and 1 run batted in to lead the Spirits, including a home run. 

In the second game, Salem jumped out with 2 early runs. Meredith tied the game at 2, before Brianna Morris hit a 3 run homer to give Salem a 5-2 lead in the bottom of the 5th. Montana Lineberger singled in 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th to make it 7-2. Miranda Barker picked up the win on the mound and is now 5-3 for the year. 

Salem will return to action on Thursday with home games against William Peace.
