Softball Splits at Home with Lynchburg

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College softball team split two home games with Lynchburg. After losing 14-2 in the first game, they won 3-0 in the second game. Kayla Ogle pitched the complete game shutout. Salem is now 14-12 overall, while Lynchburg is 13-4. 

In game 1, Lynchburg jumped out to a 4-0 lead. Salem cut the lead to 4-1 in the bottom of the 4th. Lynchburg scored 10 runs in the top of the 5th for the win. Stepanie Galioto and Kayla Ogle each had a run batted in. Amanda Dacunto and Addison York each scored. Miranda Barker was credited with the loss. She gave up 6 runs in 4 innings and Brianna Morris gave up 8 runs in 1 inning.

In the second game, Salem jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st. Brittany Morton doubled in Jennifer Vitarelli. Kayla Ogle kept Lynchburg off the board for the shutout on the mound. Addison York hit a double for Salem and Morris hit a single in the bottom of the 6th. Samantha Smith singled them both home to make it 3-0.

Salem will play Frostburg St. on Tuesday in Myrtle Beach. The Spirits crushed Frostburg 10-0 earlier this season at home.
