Softball Splits with Frostburg St. in Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach, SC-The Salem College softball team split their double header with Frostburg St. in South Carolina. After falling 4-3 in the first game, the Spirits came back to win the second game 5-3. Salem is now 15-13 overall. 

In the first game, Frostburg held a 3-2 lead going into the bottom of the 5th, when Salem was able to tie the score at 3. Frostburg scored the winning run in the top of the 6th inning. Jennifer Vitarelli and Addison York each had doubles. Vitarelli, Miranda Barker, and Amanda Dacunto each had 2 hits to lead the team. Brianna Morris picked up the loss as she allowed 4 runs on 11 hits.

In game 2, Frostburg jumped out to a 3-1 lead after 3 innings. The Spirits were able to score 4 runs in the top of the 7th for the come from behind win. Samantha Smith led the team with 2 runs and 2 runs batted in. Miranda Barker got the win as she allowed 1 run in 6 innings.

The Spirits return home for USA South East Division action against Ferrum and Mary Baldwin this weekend.
