Softball Splits With Ferrum in USA South Play

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College softball team split two USA South East Division games with Ferrum at home. Ferrum won the first game 4-0. Salem came back to win the second game when Brianna Morris hit 2 home runs. Salem is now 16-14 overall and Ferrum is 16-8.

In the first game, the game was tied at 0 through the first 3 innings. Ferrum scored 2 in the top of the 4th and 1 run in the 5th and 6th for the shutout win. Kayla Ogle pitched 5 innings for Salem and gave up 4 runs off of 10 hits. Brianna Morris pitched the last 2 innings and gave up 0 hits and 0 runs. Jennifer Vitarelli had 2 hits to lead the Spirits. 

In game 2, Brianna Morris gave the Spirits a 1-0 lead with a home-run in the bottom of the 1st. Brittany Morton drove in Morris in the bottom of the 5th to make it 2-0. Morris hit a 3 run home-run in the bottom of the 5th. Miranda Barker picked up the win on the mound.

Salem will host Mary Baldwin on Thursday.
