Softball Moves Into First Place in USA South East Division

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College softball team defeated Mary Baldwin 11-0 and 17-0 to move into first place in the USA South East Division heading into the final weekend of conference regular season play. The Spirits celebrated seniors Brianna Morris, Jennifer Vitarelli, Britani Peterson, and Montana Lineberger after the second game. Salem is now 18-14 overall and 9-3 in the USA South, while Mary Baldwin falls to 0-23 and 0-12.

Salem defeated Mary Baldwin 11-0 as Morris pitched for the win. Salem secured the victory thanks to six runs in the third inning. The game ended in five innings due to the run rule.

In game 2, Kayla Ogle threw her first career no-hitter for the win. Addison York and Morris each hit home-runs to lead Salem to another 5 inning victory. 

The Spirits will return to action tomorrow at NC Wesleyan in another conference match-up.
