Softball splits with NC Wesleyan on the road

Rocky Mount, NC-The Salem College softball team split two important USA South games at NC Wesleyan today. The Spirits won the first game 9-4 before falling 11-1 in the second game. Salem is now 19-15 overall and 10-4 in the USA South East Division, while NC Wesleyan is 20-12 and 10-6. 

After falling behind 4-1 in the first game, Salem scored 8 straight runs for the important win. NC Wesleyan scored 8 runs in the bottom of the second for the run-rule win in game 2. 

Miranda Barker picked up the win in game 1 as she allowed 4 runs in 7 innings. Barker also led the team with 3 runs batted in. Brittany Morton was 3 for 4 from the plate. 

In game 2, Brianna Morris gave up 7 runs and Barker gave up 4 in the loss. Salem was held to 3 hits and Breanna Herman had the only run batted in.

Salem will play their final two regular season games tomorrow at Methodist as they try to clinch the USA South East Division Regular Season Title.
