WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Athletic Director Trish Hughes has named Kierston Garner as the Interim Head Softball Coach for the Spirits. 

"Kierston brings a familiarity with the program that is unparalleled and shows great promise as a coach," said Hughes.

During her two years as the assistant coach, the Spirits saw back-to-back USA South tournament appearances. Last season the team went 12-4 in conference play and ended their season in second in the USA South.

Garner stated, "This place has been great to me on the field and I am excited to keep pushing both myself and the team to be the best we can be."

A 2016 graduate of Salem College, Garner was a standout at the plate with four top-25 statistics in DIII during her senior year. That same year, she earned a spot on the NCAA All-South Region team.
