GAME 2

Misenheimer, N.C. — The Salem College softball team split a USA South doubleheader with Pfieffer College Tuesday afternoon at Jack Ingram Field.  The Spirits came up short in Game One 5-1 and came back for the win in Game Two to Salem, 5-3.

"In game two we came out to battle," Head Softball Coach Kiersten Garner said. "I feel that there was a switch that the girls flipped on and they really started making adjustments, which was very important. Pfeiffer is a very competitive and all-around solid team so this win was well fought."

In game two, Salem scored three runs in the sixth to take the 4-3 lead. Another run was added in the seventh and the Spirits were able to hold the Falcons to three runs.

Garner said she was truly proud of the way her team stepped up and turned it around.

"In game one I think we were too in our head and we didn't make the adjustments soon enough," she said. "We have a new way of thinking as a unit. If you don't get the result you want, ... good! Make a change and do it better next time! This holds everyone in the entire group accountable and as long as they continue to move forward in the season this way they will continue to do great things."
