Salem Splits Home Games Against NC Wesleyan

 

GAME NOTES

  • In game one Salem had a hard time getting their bats going.
  • Defensively they allowed 9 runs in the 3rd inning but continued to push through the rest of the game.
  • In game two, Salem came out swinging. They scored two runs in the first inning to set the tone for the game.
  • First-year, Brianne Coleman tallied 3 RBI's for Salem accounting for 3 of the 4 runs.
  • Salem came out in Game 2 with higher intensity all around and competed as a team.
  • First-year pitchers Alyssa Ingle and Madison Thomas did a great job keeping the NC Wesleyan batters off balance.


THE SHORT STORY

WINSTON-SALEM, NC - The Salem Spirits rallied to end Wesleyan's 13-game winning streak in game two Wednesday.

In Game One, Salem had a hard time getting their bats going, but the team came out swinging in Game Two and redeemed themselves.

"We came out early and scored then slowly gained a little more insurance on runs to get us the win," Head Softball Coach Kierston Garner said. "I am proud of how resilient this team is. They can move mountains if they truly wanted to, and that is something special."

In the first inning of the second game, Salem got on the board quickly with a 2-0 lead, and only allowed the Bishops one run in the second inning. First-year, Brianne Coleman tallied 3 RBI's for Salem accounting for 3 of the teams 4 runs.
