Spirits Split Series with Pacers

THE SHORT STORY

RALEIGH, NC — Salem started off strong in a doubleheader against William Peace University defeating the Pacers 10-2 in the game one. But the Pacers managed to eke out a one-point win in game two Saturday.

In game one, the Spirits started strong, scoring eight runs off eight hits in the first two innings — three of them, back-to-back doubles.

Game two saw a more even back and forth, with Salem in the lead 5-3 in the top of the third inning.

A late push by the Pacers in the bottom of the seventh inning, however, handed the Pacers the single-point win — 6-5.

GAME NOTES

  • Salem started off strong in game one in the batter's box.

  • Defensively they only allowed 2 runs in game one, maintaining their composure throughout the game.

  • In game two, Salem was slow to get their bats going again.

  • Salem held William Peace off until the bottom the 7th inning.
