Spirits Return Home, Face Surry CC on Tuesday

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Salem softball team returns to Blixt Field on Tuesday, Feb. 25, to host Surry Community College in a doubleheader that begins at 3 p.m. Weather permitting, it will mark the second home doubleheader for the Spirits this season, who faced Guilford on Wednesday, Feb. 19.

Salem (0-4) remains in search of its first win of the season after suffering a pair of setbacks to Emory & Henry on Saturday, Feb. 22. The Spirits are led at the plate by Breanna Herman (.500 batting average), who has five hits, including a home run. Sophomore Brianne Coleman is second in batting average (.444) with four hits, a home run and two RBI to her credit.

Miranda Barker rounds out the top three hitters in the Salem lineup, hitting .429 on the season with a team-best six hits to her credit, one of which resulted in a double. Barker is 0-2 on the mound for Salem, tossing 15.1 innings, allowing 23 hits, 17 runs, six earned runs while striking out six opposing hitters.
