ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – A pair of five-inning victories by N.C. Wesleyan (9-1 / 12-0) allowed the Battling Bishops to extend their winning streak against Salem to five games in the head-to-head series.

N.C. Wesleyan finished the doubleheader series with 24 total hits, including seven extra-base hits, which were instrumental in the sweep.

Salem was led at the plate by Karma Morrison, who finished the day with two hits, as well as Maleah Tate, who came through with a pair of steals. Those steals moved her to within four of Karson Chapman's single-season program record of 22.

SALEM HIGHLIGHTS
-Maleah Tate, who swiped two bases in the game, moved her season total to 18. She is now four shy of Karson Chapman's single-season program record of 22, which she set in 2013.
-The No. 3 through No. 6 hitters in the Salem lineup were responsible for four of the team's five hits.
-Starting hurler Isabella Morales, who tossed two innings, fanned one N.C. Wesleyan hitter.
-After Tate reached on an error to open the third, moving to third on a fly out by Carmen Duffey to centerfield, Karma Morrison sent a single up the middle to account for the lone Salem run.

N.C. WESLEYAN HIGHLIGHTS
-Morgan Aycock, who claimed her sixth win of the slate, finished the game with three K's.
-Skyler Walker wrapped up the game by going 3-for-3 from the plate with three RBI and three runs scored. She finished the game with a double and a home run.
-Makayla Simmons concluded the game with a 2-of-3 performance, resulting in two RBI and a run scored, while coming through with a double and a triple.
-N.C. Wesleyan scored three runs in the bottom of the first, highlighted by a triple from Simmons.
-The four-run second witnessed doubles from both Walker and Simmons, resulting in RBI.
-Walker belted a two-run home run to left field to mark the final two runs of the game.

-Katie Gerhardt went 3.2 innings in the circle for Salem, allowing 12 hits, 12 runs (10 earned runs) and struck out two Battling Bishops.
-Kat Price logged 0.1 innings of relief, finishing with one strikeout.
-Salem logged two hits in the game, which came from Karma Morrison and Cassandra Miller.

N.C. WESLEYAN HIGHLIGHTS
-Emily Humphrey picked up her fourth win of the season as she tossed four innings, allowed two hits and struck out three Salem hitters.
-Makayla Simmons amassed five RBI, finishing 2-of-3 from the plate, and delivered a double and a triple in the game.
-Alexis Whitfield, who was 1-of-3 from the plate, notched a double.
-The Battling Bishops came through with 13 hits and had five players finish with multi-hit performances, including: Lillie Baumbach (2-2), Humphrey (2-2), Simmons (2-3), Savannah Thompson (2-3) and Aleah Jones (2-3).
-N.C. Wesleyan established its offense early in the game, scoring three runs in the first inning, with two of those runs coming on a single by Thompson.
-After Emily Humphrey opened the game with a single to left, Simmons tripled to centerfield for the fourth run of the game. That was followed by a single by Molly Alejandrino, which plated Simmons.
-The Battling Bishops broke the game open with a seven-run, seven-hit fourth inning. Among the seven hits were doubles from Simmons and Alexis Whitfield for the Battling Bishops. Simmons' double to right scored three runs and Aleah Jones connected on a two-run single to right for the final runs of the game.
