WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Salem softball team faced a nationally ranked opponent for the 10th time in program history on Saturday afternoon at Blixt Field, and 16th-ranked Pfeiffer conducted a doubleheader sweep of the Spirits by scores of 9-0 and 16-1 in a pair of five-inning victories.

The Spirits received solid performances from first-year performers Ashlyn Stokes ad Isabella Morales. Stokes led Salem from the plate in the second game, finishing 2-for-2 with a RBI, which marked her fourth multi-hit game of the slate. Meanwhile, Morales fanned four Pfeiffer hitters in the first game and followed that with three K's in the nightcap, giving her 44 on the season by virtue of her 11th multi-strikeout performance of the season.

SALEM HIGHLIGHTS
-Junior pitcher Kat Price got the game started with 1-2-3 inning, which kept Pfeiffer's offense at bay with a pair of fly outs to centerfield along the way.
-Karma Morrison connected on the first hit of the game, which came in the home half of the first, sending a shot to centerfield for the Spirits.
-Savanah Atkins also delivered a hit for the Spirits, from the clean-up hole, while Maleah Tate was 1-of-3 from the plate as the leadoff hitter.
-Isabella Morales, who logged three innings in the circle for the Spirits, finished the game with four K's. That marked her 10th game with at least two strikeouts this season.

PFEIFFER HIGHLIGHTS
-Alyssa Broaddus put the first run of the game on the board in the second, leading off the frame with a solo home run to left field. Teammate Emma Bullin moved that lead to 2-0 on a double to centerfield, scoring on a sacrifice fly to centerfield by Abbie Yarboro two batters later.
-Pfeiffer tacked on two runs in the first two batters of the third, putting Kyler Perdue on first with a bunt single and adding a two-run home run to centerfield with a first-pitch hit by Price.
-The Falcons went onto score four runs in the fourth inning, assuming a 6-0 lead in the process.
-Charly Cooper opened the fourth with a leadoff walk, followed by a base knock to shallow left by Kali Morton, setting the table for Kenzi Lyall, who sent a three-run home run over the left field wall for a 9-0 Pfeiffer lead.
-Pfeiffer finished the game with five extra-base hits, including a pair of home runs from Kenzi Lyall, while Alyssa Broaddus blasted a solo shot for the Falcons.
-Lyall (2-4, 5 RBI, 2 runs), Broaddus (2-2, run), Emma Chopko (2-3, run) and Kyler Perdue (2-2, 2 runs) all finished the game with multiple hits for Pfeiffer.

SALEM HIGHLIGHTS
-Kat Price was the third pitcher to enter the circle in the top of the first, closing out the inning with a strikeout looking.
-Carmen Duffey hit a double into right and moved to third on a stolen base before teammate Ashlyn Stokes reaches on a single to short, scoring Duffey from third for the first Salem run of the game.
-Stokes wrapped up the game with two hits, her fourth game of the season with multiple hits.
-Isabella Morales, who logged three innings in the circle for the Spirits, finished the game with three K's. That marked her 11th game with at least two strikeouts this season.

PFEIFFER HIGHLIGHTS
-Kenzi Lyall led off the game with a double, scoring two batters later on a double by teammate Gracie
Griffin. The second run of the frame scored on an infield error, plating Griffin, as Pfeiffer assumed the 2-0 lead.
-Jaci Cook roped a base hit to right field, scoring both Alyssa Broadus and Emma Bullin as the Falcons extended their lead to 4-0 in the game.
-Pfeiffer, which brought a 7-0 lead into the third inning. Had three straight singles to open the frame.
Kenzi Lyall drove a double into left centerfield, making for a 10-1 lead for the Falcons by plating Skylar Price.
-Lyall closed the game by going 3-for-3 from the plate with an RBI and two runs scored. Both Emily Dickerson (2-4, 2 RBI, 2 runs, HR) and Jaci Cook (2-3, 3 RBI, 2 runs) joined their teammate as multi-hit performers for the Falcons in the game.
