GREENSBORO, N.C. – Sophomores Shelby LaPoint and Maleah Tate highlighted a USA South Conference doubleheader against Greensboro, which posted wins of 8-0 and 6-0, when the two clashed in Greensboro, N.C.

LaPoint came through with the second three-hit game of her Salem career, first since a 3-for-4 outing against Shaw in the first game of a doubleheader on April 18, 2023. Meanwhile, Tate, who swiped one base in two attempts to tie Brianna Morris' mark of 22 stolen bases in a season.

Senior Madeline Brown broke a recent hitting slump, finishing 2-for-3 from the plate with a pair of singles.

SALEM HIGHLIGHTS
-Maleah Tate and Karma Morrison had one hit apiece for the Spirits, who tallied two hits in the contest.
-Tate was caught stealing for just the second time this season.
-Kat Price earned the starting nod for the Spirits, going four innings where she allowed 10 hits, eight runs and one walk along the way.

GREENSBORO HIGHLIGHTS
-Three Greensboro hitters finished with two hits, including Alexis Sox (2-2, RBI), Makyiah Simmons (2-2, RBI, 2 runs) and Raven Taylor (2-2, 3 RBI, triple), in the contest.
-The trio of Taylor, Lauren Engel and M'Kenzie Davis all had one stolen base for The Pride.
-Lauren Engel claimed her 12th win in the circle, allowing just two hits over five innings while striking out one Salem batter.
-Greensboro had a four-run, four-hit inning first inning that was highlighted by a triple from Taylor, which scored two runs.
-The Pride had a three-run, four-hit third inning that included RBI singles by both Taylor and Engel.

-Carmen Duffey reached on a double for the sixth time this season, marking her third double in the last five contests. Duffey's single came in the second inning.
-Isabella Morales fanned two Greensboro hitters, while Griffin Pearce struck out one Pride slugger in three innings of work.

GREENSBORO HIGHLIGHTS
-Madison Dilner and Katherine Connell each tallied one double for Greensboro, while Faith Mabe finished with a triple.
-Alexis Sox (2-3, run) and Kelsey Craven (2-4, 2 RBI) led the way for the top of the Greensboro order, which tallied five of the team's 10 total hits.
-Katherine Charlton moved to 4-1 after a complete-game performance that resulted in six K's.
-Greensboro broke a scoreless tie with a three-run third, highlighted by five hits.
-The Pride received a pair of doubles from Dilner and Connell, to right and centerfield, respectively, as they grabbed the lead.
-Craven came through with a RBI single to right centerfield in the fourth, while Dilner scored Mabe on an error, stretching the lead to 5-0.
-The final run of the game crossed the plate in the home half of the fifth when Courtney Maddox brought Olivia Hyatt home on a single through the right side of the infield.
