Five Salem Players Score Double-Figures in Win

Winston-Salem, NC- Salem College hosted the Piedmont Baptist College Conquerors in a non-conference women’s basketball contest Tuesday evening. Having only five players for the entire game, the Spirits faced a challenging task in front of them. Facing fatigue and possible foul-problems, the Spirits started out slow and finally scored after 4 ½ minutes. The offense started to click then as Michala Michaux (So, Morganton, NC) scored 11 points and Jasmine Glenn (So, Winston-Salem, NC) grabbed 12 rebounds in the first half. Salem led Piedmont Baptist at the half 34-26.

In the second half, Glenn grabbed another 9 rebounds and scored 11 points to finish the game with a team high 18 points and 21 rebounds. Michaux and Kelsey Rector (FY, State Road, NC) finished 13 points each while Stephanie Wilson (So, Morganton, NC) and Courtney Sauer (FY, Carthage, NC) scored 10 points each. Sauer finished with a career high 12 rebounds and Michaux grabbed 9 rebounds. All five Salem College players scored in double figures. The final score was Salem College 64 Piedmont Baptist 48.

Piedmont Baptist College was led by Erica Buffaloe with 15 points followed by Kristie Johnson (13 pts) and Allison Edwards (11 points, 9 reb).
