Four Salem Players Score in Double Digits

Winston-Salem, NC- The Salem College Basketball Team hosted Peace College Wednesday evening in a non-conference contest. Four Salem College players scored in double digits as the Spirits took the lead for good with 5:14 left in the first half. Salem College survived a late comeback from the Peace Pacers and secured their second win of the season 71-61.

Michala Michaux (So, Morganton, NC) played an incredible game with 17 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals. Jazmine Gilbert (FY, Fayetteville, NC) played her best game of her college career with 17 points, 8 rebounds, 3 steals, 2 assists and 1 block. Courtney Sauer (FY, Carthage, NC) scored 13 points while Kelsey Rector (FY, State Road, NC) had 12 points.

Billie Harmon (Jr, Reidsville, NC) had a solid game with 7 rebounds, 6 points, 2 assists and 2 steals.

Christy Freeman of Peace College (4-2) had a great game with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Freeman shot 5-7 from the three-point line. Amanda Cross scored 17 points while Brittany Lynn added 10 points.

Salem College (2-7) will return to action as they traveled north to play in the Southern Virginia University Basketball Tournament on Friday and Saturday, December 7-8. Salem will play Kentucky Christian College on Friday evening at 5 pm.
