Raleigh, NC- The Salem College basketball team played Meredith College Wednesday night for the second time in just nine days. Meredith swept the season series as the Spirits fell to the Avenging Angels 76-58. The Spirits (1-4) fell behind by 23 points at halftime thanks to Meredith hitting five 3-pointers early. Salem College cut the deficit to 13 points halfway through the second half, but Meredith (3-3) stayed steady for the win.

Michala Michaux (So, Morganton, NC) led the Spirits in scoring with a career high 20 points. Kelsey Rector (FY, State Road) and Alex Ervin (So, Morganton, NC) scored 10 points each. Courtney Sauer (FY, Carthage, NC) led the Spirits in rebounding with eight. Billie Harmon (Jr, Reidsville, NC) secured five rebounds.

Meredith’s Nicole Hall led her team with 17 points, 13 rebounds, 9 assists, 5 steals and 3 blocks. Whitley Turner (14 points, 7 rebounds) and Brittany Cornelius (13 points, 4 rebounds) played well.

The Spirits will return to action as they host Agnes Scott College on Friday at 7 pm.
